Mid-Cent Mod Malvern
Spec House
For our third, and final, house in the new Malvern Walk community we stepped outside our standard practice and built a spec house! We teamed up with Josh Pettler of Pettlerworks Architecture and a former client to bring this mid-century modern spec house to life. We are not disappointed with the results! We had a lot of fun with this one and hope you enjoy the details and photos below.
Environmental Efficiency Features
Exterior Finishes | In keeping with our ethos of Green Building we used a thermally modified siding from Viking Wood for accent sections of the siding. The thermal modification process is chemical-free and seals and treats the wood solely through extremely high heat. The result is a beautiful dark, moisture repellent wood with increased dimensional stability and decay resistance. We really like the way this product performed in the field and are exciting to implement it in future designs.

Multiple Access Points | This lot is unique in that it sits right in the middle of the original driveway for the land. While framing, we realized we had the unique opportunity to create two drivable points of access for the house. We replaced a window on the second floor, back bedroom with a door, and installed a bridge allowing the home owners to have unique access to the upper level of their lot.
